At least this one doesn't.... which is quite a relief.
I was kinda wishing for the human turned into card to somehow tell Ruri which one was an Ace but still it was really intense

Coal Blacksteel • 1 year ago

Bro same but it's also satisfying that Ruli won through her own power even though the game was all luck

So you telling me that 40-50 kids went missing and nobody reported it?! Then again, this is Ghost Game, where parrents are non-existant or useless...

Kranesh • 1 year ago

I have to be honest... while the ending was disappointing, this episode was actually good! I was not expecting that Piemon was going to appear, and that makes him pretty much the first official Mega level Digimon introduced in Ghost Game, which is really important to be honest because it means that the next powerup for our heroes might be getting closer and closer.

I'm going to continue here inhaling my COPIUM and say that this episode was plot relevant because we got introduced to a new power level, and it shows that the crew has no means to deal with a Mega just yet and they have to rely on their wits to win... but it makes me wonder how far can they go with that, because I'm sure not all Megas will be this "friendly".

LKin • 1 year ago

When I watched I tought the end was kinda disappointing too but thinking back I think its fine. Ghost game has this theme of different people and cultures trying to live together, like the digimons are immigrants in a new country, so I'm already ready for this, even if sometimes is a little too cheesy.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

It did seem lackluster TBH

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

Last part really depends because the team definitely got lucky with Piemon being a gentlemen especially when they were not all there.

Kranesh • 1 year ago

They got lucky, that's all... besides, It didn't really mattered if the whole team was assembled there, Piemon is a Mega, there's no way they can win against a Mega at their current level.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Just like back in OG Digimon Adventure S1 where Machinedramon just blasted 6 ultimate's ever so quickly.
The power difference will be overwhelming

Kranesh • 1 year ago

Indeed, dealing with Ultras is one thing, but Megas in Digimon are no joke.

Sunaki Sama • 1 year ago

How strong a Ultimate is in relation to a Perfect is usually depending on the Season. In 02, Paildramon, Shakkoumon and Sylphimon where strong enough to deal whit Blackwargreymon. Same whit Season 5.
I guess all three could fought him, but it would have been a extremely intense Fight, whit Piemon probably winning.

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

It's almost like Piemon knows he's powerful so he is willing to even the playing field while getting some entertainment on the side which Ruli offered with her bravery.

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

Never thought a regular card game would be this intense. I can see the comments coming in all like "TOTAL DISSAPPOINTMENT, UNWATCHABLE AND REPETITIVE, WASTED POTENTIAL, NO GULUSGAMMAMON, NO PLOT PROGRESSION, WORST DIGIMON SERIES EVER MADE, AWFUL WRITERS" sprinkled with a bunch of cuss words for the salt. I can understand the criticism in this series because I get their take on it. But it's hard to decide if this show is a disappointment when the amount of episodes this series has is still unknown. Every Digimon show has its' problems and I'm not going to start making my verdict until the end of the series.

I will not lie a part of me thought Ruli was going to lose that card game but even then Gulus let alone CanoWeissmon standing a chance against Piemon was slim. What next then, Hiro and Gammamon forced to get Ruli, Angoramon, and the captured kids back alone since Kyoushiro and Jellymon have RL business going on with no way of knowing when they'll be back? Sometimes I'm glad this show is episodic because what would have happened HAD Ruli lost? At least this Piemon has class and respects the rules and ante.

Sure he could probably get help from the Black Digimon that show up whenever Gulusgammamon does but they are still an air of mystery. He can get Blacktailmon to help but sending Piemon back to the Digital World won't solve the people turned into cards issue. He can wait for the next day for when Kyoushiro and Jellymon comes back to tell them what happened but Thetismon is more of a healer than a fighter although she can do debuffs and CanoWeissmon could wreck all the trope except this Piemon is a legit wizard. Once magic is involved, even a fight between a Mega and two Ultimates is one-sided. The point is, conventional means won't work against this Piemon which narrows down the options. Guess it was luck that Piemon was a gentlemen who plays by the rules and it was luck that Ruli won. I don't like seeing past villain digimon with a villain history in another series as a villain perhaps. I know Piemon from the Adventure series but this is NOT the big bad villain Piemon from Adventure.

So I saw the preview on youtube and some were saying Jokermon which I didn't know about until this week and it's another clown digimon in the style of the joker from the deck of cards that debuted in Xros Wars so I guess that's why I did not know about Jokermon to begin with. Seeing that a part of me thought it wouldn't be Piemon so I was surprised it WAS Piemon that showed up as the ringmaster of the circus trope. Turns out the hand on the preview was Mephismon. Piemon showing up was one thing but my heart was pounding during that high stakes card game. What is the name of the card game Piemon and Ruli were playing anyway can somebody tell me because I don't know many games played with the 52 cards.

Though no plot progression but first Mega level Digimon of this series. A sign of things to come for this episodic series and other Megas may not be as gentlemen as Piemon was.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

Agreed. Thank goodness this show has an episodic nature and this Piedmon has at least the graceful loser attitude.... othwerise it would have been a full Game over for them.

Sure there isn't an actual "main plot" that ties the show together, but honestly, i really don't care. The show is entertaining as it is

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

Imagine how much shorter this series would be had there been proper relevant plot progression every episode? Jokes aside, I can't make a verdict on whether a show is a disappointment or not when I don't know how many episodes Ghost Game has. While the criticism is sound, I think calling this show a disappointment now is premature.

I also usually don't make premature verdicts on any series until the end unless that show was noticeably rushed to where it pisses me off or the characters and the story pisses me off.

Actually I think there was some character moments, Ruli has gotten a lot braver staking her life and even Hiro's and Gammamon's to go up against Piemon in his own card game. The life of everyone was on her hands and that was pressure. Do you know what that card game is by chance because "I don't know my cards well".

Lucky the first Mega Digimon the team encounters minus Kiyoshiro and Jellymon wasn't an unreasonable psycho.

Piedmon is always a win, my favorite Virus type...

Piedmont has always been my number one favorite Digimon villain. Ever since I first saw him in the original run of the English dub, I just lurved him so much.

Annecy Change • 1 year ago

Rare to see some digimon them playing fair.

Coal Blacksteel • 1 year ago

I like how ruli is very confident. Like she isn't scared to stand up and charge into things head on. She was standing up to a Mega digimon while angoramon couldn't help her and sent Hiro away. That took some guts. She sometimes gets into trouble due to that but she's capable of handling her problems most of the time. She and angoramon are honestly my favorites at the moment. Angoramon is sweet because he's always there to help others unconditionally especially ruli.

On another note piemon was pretty messed up for what he did to the kids but u gotta give him some credit. He's a man of his word. I was expecting him to backstab ruli but he kept his promises till the end. Tbh he most likely could've beat both of them.

By the end of the day we are all clowns.
The ones who are blindly defending a series that doesn't advance, and us who keep watching the series for something to happen.
Only the ones who watch the series and enjoy it despite it's flaws are not clowns. lol

That being said, is this the first time that Piedmon appeared in a... less villainous role? I guess I'll say.
I was so sure that he was going to cheat or not return the kids to normal because he's eternally a villain in my mind thanks to the original cartoon. lol

Petar Dimiฤ‡ • 1 year ago

He was villain in Adventure, but that doesn't mean he must be evil every time when he show up.
He was evil in this episode, but Ruli wins and he admits his defeat, even he stops fight between Lamortmon and Mephismon.

This was 41st episode and, yet, we still don't know how many episodes GG will have.

Zosha • 1 year ago

I hope Ghost Game won't have 50-something episodes like the other seasons.
I would definitely feel like a clown if that'll be the case.

Petar Dimiฤ‡ • 1 year ago

This episode is TobuCatmon's debut in digimon anime series.
Fantastic episode with Piemon as villain.
Mephismon here is a joke. Also, could Espimon stop to be so dumb?

Which digimon is going to be villainous in the next episode?

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

Good thing Ruri was able to call upo the heard of the cards....
Geez.... I know this Piedmon was quite a graceful loser but..... man.
There is a reason why Piedmon nearly wiped the whole board with the original protagonists from the first Adventure Anime by himself

Also, nice reference with the "chosen children" line

NightDevil00 • 1 year ago

I personally like to look at each series as its' own thing, Especially all the Digimon and I rather see them in a fresh take. So while Piemon showing up freaked me out at first I just watched how things unfolded. I think what I enjoy about this Digimon series is because it has no real villains and its' either Digimon reveling at their new experiences, had a really bad day, obsession, or outright lost it.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

I am pretty Sure Arachnemon / Arukenimon, Myotismon / Vamdemon, Phelesmon, Digitamamon, Musyamon, the Betsumons and the evil spirits that possesed that Doumon can count as outright villains though...
And Gyukimon's entire species count as antagonistict by virtue of being a zombie virus by all accounts

In Original Piemon one of the Dark Masters

Circus of Digimon

Proum Kroum • 1 year ago

Holy shit. I'm not even sure what to say. One of the most disappointing episodes so far.

The card game duel was very intense but that's it, no plot progression. I put extremely high hopes in this episode because Piemon is an ultimate and was always a terrifying villain in most of Digimon media but here he's just a joke. I genuinely can't believe this show, did they just make Piemon and Mephismon turn good at the end, and it was all a misunderstanding? And become friends the usual Ghost Game style? And they didn't even have them hint at them coming back later as villains like they did Weedmon and Phelesmon (don't worry, I doubt you remember these guys since the show doesn't remember them either) Also, they abandoned the furious uncontrollable Lamortmon storyline, it seems.

Unlike recent Ghost Game episodes, it WAS a fun episode, I admit that. But this kind of fun should be in like the first 20 episodes, not this late into the show, and the fun of this episode was all about Piemon and how could they defeat him and if Gulus will appear or not so it turned into sheer disappointment in the end when none of this happened and it was your average GG episode.

A daily reminder that it's episode 41 and this show still doesn't have a plot, and there will always be toxic fans who keep making excuses for this show and bash the others for criticizing it. This episode is titled "clowns" the only clowns I saw today was the writers.

recentteen14 • 1 year ago

Honestly, I think you're bashing it more than criticizing. Ghost Game may be lacking in the overarching plot, but I'm alright with it- yes I want to see GulusGammamon's story, yes I want to see the digital world, yes I want to see their Ultimates (Or Megas if you're going by the translations), but Ghost Game has been a sorely needed breath of fresh air compared to the other Digimon series. Taking things slower isn't a bad thing, and it's playing to its own strengths, it's been legitimately interesting to see them try to reconcile the differences between Digimon and Humans without straight up killing everyone they come across like in some other series.

I understand the frustration, but this one feels a lot more about the journey rather than the destination, and has pulled that aspect off rather well. Not every Digimon has to be evil even if past versions in the series have been, just look at things like Beezlebubmon in XROS vs how he started in Tamers, but they don't have to be willing to play nice either, as shown by the times Gulus came out. I think you're projecting your ideal version onto the show rather than looking at it for what it is - a more spooky, kind of slice of life Digimon, with slower progression to match.

I know you can't please everyone, but IMO this is on the high end of Digimon series, I get why you don't like it, but please don't be toxic about it yourself like you say some of the fans are. This episode is good, and I love that Piemon lived up to his nature but was at least fair about it in the end, just driving home the point of the series - Humans and Digimon are fundamentally different and Digimon aren't used to how the Human world works. One part culture shock, one part Digimon acting on their nature until being shown the error of their ways. It may be a bit formulaic, but not in a bad way either.

Hope we'll get more main plot soon, but seeing everyone grow in the meantime isn't bad. I feel like it's less filler and more of a slow burn in character growth, and who knows how long they're planning the series to be? I'm banking on major changes soon, so enjoying this style while it lasts.
